The North Face

Welcome to Basecamp!

Every grand adventure starts at Basecamp. Its the starting point, the place to gather your equipment, meet up with your friends, create your plan, and- when the expedition is over-gather to regroup, evaluate, and rest.

FreeRangeFit.com is your Basecamp for all of this. The philosophy is simple: Fitness is a natural part of life. It shouldn't cost money. The "industry" aspect of fitness may well have wrecked our natural fitness. And so, we're trying something new. Connecting with the outdoors. Figuring it out on our own, without the aid of high science and crazy gadgets. We're spending our fitness time, with our friends whenever possible, because let's face it, our lives are becoming more and more electronic, and less and less face-to-face.

You'll see ads on this site, like the one to the left. The fact is, you'll need clothing for this activity! If you have a dog, you'll need dog food. That's the sort of advertising you'll see.  No gizmos, no gyms, no memberships. I'm a huge fan of saving your money, and spending it on good causes (thus the ad for the Sierra Club), or on rewards for yourself and the people with whom you work out, (you'll find indulgent suggestions on the rewards page.) But to be a Free Ranger, you really need nothing. Not even shoes!

Is it a business model. I'm not sure. That's why I'm calling it a Fitness Revolution!

Why Would a Screenwriter become a fitness philosopher?

I love outdoor workouts. They allow me to touch moss and mud and sand and grass; to recognize the richness of life, and to be connected to my friends, the seasons, and my world. Free Range Fitness is my commitment to help others ditch the gym and get a better, happier, more effective workout that will transform their lives.  I believe this deeply. I invite you to join me, in being cage-free!
