Hi. I'm Mary Elder and I'm the founder or Free Range Fitness. I grew up in New Hampshire, a frugal yankee. As a kid, exercise was never the goal. It was something you got as a side-effect of two things: hard work, or big fun. Nobody checked their pulse after swimming the lake or climbing Mount Monadnock. You did it because it was wicked fun. A day spent as a "runner" at one of my Dad's auctions would make you sweaty, but money earned always trumped calories burned.
I'm like that school teacher who created Airborne, I'm a screenwriter and a mom, living in Seattle Washington. What I've discovered is that I'm never as happy as when I'm doing a challenging workout, in the fresh air with my friends, my dog, or my kids! When I'm running a natural staircase, panting at the top of a massive hill, smiling at a big sky, I think, "this is living!"
Lots of people can teach you how to do a proper lunge. I'll leave that to them. What I'd like Free Range Fitness to do, is show you how to make happiness an organic part of a fit and active lifestyle!
